Product Description Pops with hot air, not oil, for a healthy, low calorie treat. This popper offers a faster, healthier, and more economical choice than microwave bag popcorn. Use regular or gourmet popcorn with terrific results virtually no unpopped kernels. Up to 18 cup
Amazon.com Review Plug in Presto's PopLite and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you'll have up to 18 cups--two large bowlfuls--of fluffy popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. And because the machine uses hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. That's not to say you can't add butter; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a butter melter. Simply put in the desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best), and it melts from the heat produced during the popping process. The clear plastic cover and cup, which must stay on during popping so the popped corn doesn't fly all over the room, easily remove for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water. No other clean-up is required. While a few unpopped kernels spring out the chute as the machine begins to heats up, the chute does a good job of directing the popped corn into a bowl. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches, and is identical to Presto's Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper except for color and logo. Presto covers the PopLite with a two-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

hot air popper March 6, 2010 Nancy K. Hamilton Great product - my grandson was amazed with it
pops big kernels
very satisfied
Works perfectly. March 3, 2010 S. Grondin (Sacramento, CA) I prefer air popped popcorn and this appliance works perfectly. It pops all the popcorn very quickly not leaving unpopped seeds.
Yummy! February 28, 2010 Cody Stanton (Western Wisconsin) My microwave sucked at making popcorn, so I was browsing amazon and found this beauty. Making popcorn is a lot of fun and really easy to do with this machine. I was able to buy a bunch of popcorn seeds for cheap. My first time making the popcorn I put a half cup of kernels into it and stuck an average size bowl below. Sure enough that bowl wasn't enough, in no time there was popcorn going everywhere. The dog loved the kernels on the floor. This thing is great. If you like popcorn, and would like to switch it up from microwaveable, buy this!
Poppin Good Product February 23, 2010 Scott Giordano Simple to use and Super Fast! Taste better than micro corn. Gave it 4 starts for no other reason than I think the thing should have an ON/Off Switch.
Replacing my old WearEver Popcorn Pumper February 21, 2010 J. Hedlund (Charlotte, NC) After reading a number of reviews giving this product a poor recommendation, I was ambivalent about ordering one. I was a proud owner of a WearEver Popcorn Pumper that had been with me since my High School days in 1980 until a month ago when I dropped it on the kitchen floor. I attempted repair, but the ceramic o-ring was broken and that was that. That model is no longer made. The kids loved it and I won't go into why hot air popping is the best way to make popcorn as other reviewers have.
1. I would say that the number of un-popped kernels that come flying out are fewer than the old machine and yield is in the high 90s%. Like with the old one, I hold a spatula in front of the chute to help prevent kernels from coming out and to control the rate of popped corn leaving the chute so it doesn't fly onto the counter and floor.
2. I find it no big deal that the plastic measuring cup that sits atop the maker doubles as a butter melter. There's a fill line inside the popping chamber that you can use instead if you want multiple batches and don't want to wash in between. The WearEver's butter melter was made of aluminum with dubious health effects if corroded like mine was. Maybe plastic isn't much better.
3. If you spread a thin layer of butter in the cup and leave it in place for a while after the popper is off, it should all melt.
4. The Presto PopLite is a lot quieter.
5. On the con side, the Presto is lighter than the old WearEver and seems less sturdily built. I'm sure it won't last 30 years like the old one did and others have reported issues with reliability. But for $22 and free shipping I think it's a great deal anyway.
I give the Presto PopLite my endorsement, but I do miss the old one mainly for nostalgic reasons.
